‘No doubt that the legalization of parallel imports will influence the competitive environment, but this influence can be controversial,’ Tatyana Radchenko explained to Zakon. ‘On the one side, it will serve to strengthening of competition among brands in the country and, as a result, in lowering of prices on branded goods and services.’ It is the main reason for the legalization of parallel imports. And on the other side, it may result in loss of quality of services to customers.

‘Two other issues raised traditionally when discussing risks of the legalization of parallel imports are the growth of counterfeit products and decrease of competition and attractiveness of Russian economy to foreign investments,’ Radchenko added.
