The expert talked about the situation related to the construction of gas pipelines, in an interview for “Mir24” TV. Why did Austria decided to join the project “Southern Stream” after its rejection in 2011? “Wise people always kept gas and politics separated because gas is an energy source that Europe really needs, - said Leonid Grigoriev. – Austria keeps to the logic it had throughout the history and there are precedents when gas issues were solved by European countries even during the “iron curtain”. Austria will receive a big share of gas which will strengthen its economic development and thus the adherence to the "Southern Stream" is a very profitable move for Austria”. Furthermore Mr. Grigoriev considers that gas will enter the already existing pipeline system of Austria which no longer needs to go through the process of buying out private land in order to build infrastructure. This aspect gives weight to this project in the eyes of Brussels. “Common sense is stronger than politics”, - summed up the expert.
