“After the Great War the USSR has build the most effective energy system in the world for such a cold country. The energy system withstood the 10-fold construction development. Industry supplied cities with heating, and the price was always low”, - reported the expert of the Analytical Center Evgeny Gasho in an interview given to the regional TV Channel OTV.
Only the citizens’ initiative can encourage energy supplying companies to cooperate
Speaking about the fundamental changes in energy sector in the OTV’s TV program “Events. Focus”, the expert reported that in the 1990s, when industry declined and later people started to move from apartment buildings to cottages, the energy system met with a complete off-design conditions. At that time energy conservation became a primary concern. Keeping track of energy consumption became very important. This is of importance not only for the people, but for the supplying companies as well, because “if there is an energy power surplus, it can be sold to another consumer”.
