Today comprehensive implementation of gas-engine equipment is one of priorities in public transport. However, it is constrained by the following reasons: poor gas-filling and service infrastructure; limited supply of domestic equipment on natural gas, as well as its high costs and low performance compared to technologies on conventional fuels; transport companies’ need for extra costs to carry out measures to modernize production and technical facilities, quality of engineering and technical staff and drivers for maintenance and operation of new equipment; lack of government incentives to foster producers and consumers of gas-engine equipment.
In January 2015, the Ministry of Transport of Russia prepared as part of the State program ‘Development of Transport System’ a subprogram project on transferring modes of transport to the natural gas motor fuel. The subprogram is about: scientific, regulatory and technical support for the transition of all modes of transport to the natural gas motor fuel, number of works on creating the necessary technology advance and requirements for the full-scale production of a wide range of vehicles and additional gas-engine equipment.
The aim of the round table is to analyze new advanced technologies of gas flaring in internal combustion engines, to develop proposals to improve transport efficiency when using the natural gas motor fuel, as well as to optimize budget expenditures in implementation of the subprogram on transferring modes of transport to the natural gas motor fuel.
