IPLA-2015 Global Forum

IPLA-2015 Global Forum – Science-Politics-Business-Society. On the way towards a resource efficient state: The United Nations Committee for Regional Development, the Federal Service for Supervision of the Use of Natural Resources and the International Center for the Best Environmental Technologies are working to minimize landfill disposal and maximize waste recycling.

The Forum is co-organized by the Analytical Center of the Government of Russia, the Department for the Use of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Moscow and the Association of Socio-Economic Cooperation in the Central Federal District, whose members include 18 regions of Central Russia. The Forum is supported by the Russian Ministry for Natural Resources, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia and the Center of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Russia (UNIDO).

The main goal of IPLA-2015 global forum is to create in Russia a permanent IPLA-Russia expert venue to exchange information and share experience in environmental protection to achieve a consensus on environmental issues between federal and regional governments, local governments, business and society in order to create favorable conditions for implementing projects aimed at developing a resource efficient state on the basis of private-state partnership and development of a full-fledged waste processing industry.

As part of the Forum conferences and round tables are to be held to discuss the development of the waste processing industry in Russia and other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, taking into account international experience and the current situation with changes in the Russian environmental protection legislation. The forum is supposed to kick off joint efforts by all interested parties to effect real improvement in the environmental situation in Russia and other participating nations, with the most representative international and Russian professional expert community being involved in said efforts.

The final documents of the Global Forum will be presented as a set of proposals for a long term waste management development program for Russia, based on international cooperation. The program will be submitted to the Russian Government. The coordination council for the implementation of the resolutions of the Global Forum based on the IPLA-Russia expert venue will be in charge of coordinating the program with the Russian Government and legislators.
