Round Table ‘On Results of Integrated Assessment of Potential Development of Hydropower Engineering of the Amur River Basin’

The Round Table is conducted by the Analytical Center, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the leading natural resources industrial group En + Group and the energy company "EvroSibEnergo".

In 2012, WWF Russia and En + Group agreed to conduct a comprehensive study to assess the impact of prospective projects of hydropower plants on the further development of the Amur River basin. The study examines key environmental and socio-economic factors to be taken into account when deciding on possible development of the Amur basin hydropower potential. The study is an example of the first Russian strategic integrated environmental and socio-economic assessment of the hydropower engineering impact on the river basin.

The aim is to present results of the joint environmental and socio-economic research of potential hydropower development in the Amur River basin.

During the event, experts will discuss the organization of research and talk about the integrated assessment methodology being used. A results’ presentation and reports by WWF Russia, En + Group and "EvroSibEnergo" on the experience of business-environment partnership will also take place.
