The 2nd International Conference “The Arctic: Shelf Projects and Sustainable Development of the Regions (The Arctic-2017)” will take place on 16-17 February, 2017 in Moscow at the Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation.
Just like last year, this year's Conference will be devoted first and foremost to key issues of socio-economic development of the Arctic and Far Eastern regions; development of the Russian shelf; regulatory support for shelf projects; global experience in geological exploration and drilling in the Arctic; creating a favorable investment climate and promoting international cooperation.
In addition to the prospects of the implementation of oil and natural gas projects and development priorities of the Russian arctic regions, conference participants will also discuss such issues as:
environmental security of the Arctic;
innovative technology and engineering solutions for arctic projects;
developing a telecommunications infrastructure in the Arctic;
energy and utilities beyond the Arctic circle;
transport and logistical support for arctic projects;
personnel training and youth cooperation in the Arctic.
As it has become a tradition, among the speakers and moderators at the Arctic-2017 will be representatives of the federal and regional executive authorities; top managers of major Russian and international oil, natural gas, energy, mechanical engineering, ship building, transportation, services, and financial companies; experts representing leading research centers; public organizations, and industry associations.
Participants in the conference will include heads of special committees of the Federation Council and the State Duma, representatives of the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Trade, the Committee for the Development of the Arctic of the International Union of Economists, the Union of Oil and Natural Gas Companies of Russia, the Committee for Energy Policy and Energy Efficiency of the Russian Union of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation.
