Analytical Center Announces Best Information and Analysis Tools 2016 Competition

The Best Information and Analysis Tools 2016 competition is the new project of the Analytical Center of the Government of the Russian Federation. The aim of the competition is to discover existing information and analysis tools, to build new ones, and to promote the dissemination of the best tools which help increase the quality and substantiation of governance decisions made by government authorities.

The Competition enjoys the support of federal and regional ministries and government bodies, the largest professional associations, and the media. Vladislav Fedulov, Director of the IT and Communications Department of the Russian Government, is head of the judging panel, and there is a special methodology developed for the assessment of the contestants.

The Competition will take place from July 1, 2016 till January 27, 2017. Software developers are invited to participate in the competition.

“The Best Information and Analysis Tools 2016 features 15 expert events, which take place during the competition and which make it special this year,” Galina Chinarikhina, Deputy Head of the Analytical Center of the Government of the Russian Federation, explained. “These will allow the specialists to discuss the most effective technological platforms, solutions and tools that serve the task of aiding the work of the government.” The end result will consist not only of a set of instructions for federal government bodies on how to use information and analysis solutions, but also a report with a description of competition projects, which may prove useful to analytical departments, situation response centers, project offices, and businesses of all types, added Ms Chinarikhina.

Among other features of this Competition, the organizers note a wide range of nominations, a collegial (between the different ministries and agencies) choice of winners, additional promotion and development opportunities for software developers, and a high level of interest in the project on the part of government authorities and the expert community.

The announcement of the results and the awarding ceremony will take place at the final Conference, which is to take place on January 26-27, 2017 in the Analytical Center of the Government of the Russian Federation.

The Competition is meant to be annual, which will help create an ongoing platform for discovering and disseminating competitive information and analysis solutions in demand at the government level.
