On 20th May 2016 we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Alexey Maresyev, the flying ace, whose heroic act has become an example of courage and spiritual strength for many people in extreme situations. The Analytical Center together with representatives of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation and the Russian Military Historical Society held an expert discussion of the action plan to prepare the celebration of the date.
“The Maresyev’s jubilee will be a new momentum in the development of the region and a good example of a patriotic upbringing project that can be disseminated in other Russian cities and towns,” said Mr. Mikhail Pryadilnikov, the Deputy Head of the Analytical Center.
The hometown of Alexey Maresyev – Kamyshin – together with Volgograd and Volzhsky was included in the Territory of Victories Program designed in the Volgograd region for the 2018 World Cup. In the same year 2018, the region will become the center of celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Stalingrad battle. Both events will increase the number of guests in the region, raise its investment and tourist attractiveness and make it a tourist cluster of the federal importance. It is planned to create new parks and recreation areas, pave bicycle lanes, lay out beaches, build or renovate berths for cruise ships, and develop a tourist navigation system from urban signposts to mobile applications, in the Volgograd region.
The Territory of Victories project designed by the Tourism Development Agency with the support of the Volgograd Region Administration and active participation of experts from the Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation, alongside with projects of the Moscow Region and the Republic of Tatarstan, is among the three leaders and included in the federal Domestic and Inbound Tourism Development program (2011-2018).
“It is very important that this project starts with events dedicated to the Maresyev’s anniversary,” Nurali Rezvanov, the Adviser to the Head of the Analytical Center, believes. “The spiritual and patriotic tourism is the pride of people for their fellow townsman, respect and reverent attitude to his heroic act in each family, rather than just visiting museums.” The expert is sure that people must be proud of the land they live on.
