The Analytical Center is taking an active part in the development and introduction of open data in Russia. Its experts have prepared a newsletter on open data that looks at foreign practices, issues and problems with regulating open data in Russia and discusses the goals that government bodies can achieve through an open data policy.
Russia is actively introducing open data. The newsletter notes that according to McKinsey’s estimates open data can expand the volume of the global economy by USD 3 trillion per year. It is also noted that one success story about how owners of open data and developers of services using open data is the cooperation between the government of Moscow and IT and telecommunications companies that have offered a number of convenient services to Moscow residents.
