A roundtable on Global Experience in Performance-Based Budgeting was held at the Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation. The roundtable discussed definitions, objectives, requirements and types of performance-based budgeting.
The keynote report was presented by Mario Marcel, Senior Director of the World Bank’s Governance Global Practice. His presentation entitled “Performance Based Budgeting: Recent Trends” discussed, in particular, definitions, objectives, requirements and types of performance-based budgeting, and latest trends in performance-based budgeting. He also discussed performance-based budgeting experience in the member-countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Mr. Marcel presented two cases of performance-based budgeting implementation in South Korea and Chile. Finally, lessons for implementation and reflection on the future of this agenda were discussed.
The Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation pays great attention to issues of budget policy, and the presentation of the World Bank official generated interest from participants of the event.
