10 july 2014

Experts of Analytical Center took part in the Second All-Russian meeting of industrialists and entrepreneurs titled "Energy efficiency improvement as a driver for industry modernization and economic growth", which was held in Yekaterinburg within the frame of the International Industrial Exhibition INNOPROM 2014

During the roundtable "From energy service – to a full cycle engineering" experts discussed the ways to find new approaches to energy service activities, as well as issues regarding the removal of institutional and legal barriers to the conclusion and to a successful implementation of energy service contracts in the public, residential and industrial sectors.

The expert of the Analytical Center Dmitry Khomchenko, as moderator of the roundtable, noted in his speech that the significant energy saving potential that exists in all sectors of the Russian economy is unexploited. "In particular this is due to the lack of demand for energy services mechanisms, as well as the lack of use of such mechanisms for energy efficiency, as are the energy service contracts" - said the expert.

There were also discussed the possible measures needed to run the energy service activities in the public sector, associations between various market participants aimed at achieving a successful implementation of energy efficiency projects, a successful introduction of debt financing for such projects, the possibility to change the business of energy auditing companies after introducing the necessary amendments to the current legislation.

Several hours later, a panel discussion was held on "Energy efficiency improvement as a driver for industry modernization and economic growth", which was moderated by the expert of the Analytical Center Evgeny Gasho. Experts discussed what should be included in the agenda of energy-efficient modernization of industrial companies, explored the options for the practical application of the best available technologies, replication of successful projects, the capitalization of indirect effects of energy conservation, personnel training, etc.

An information review titled "Energy conservation as a reflection of the industrial policy” was specifically prepared by the Analytical Center for the Second All-Russian meeting of industrialists and entrepreneurs. Analytical Center has been the co-organizer of this event for the second consecutive year. The review included three articles: "Assessment of the optimal energy consumption plan for Russia and its federal districts, taking into account natural and geographical conditions", "Development through energy efficiency: the regional perspective" and "Issues and prospects for energy efficiency improvement of the Russian industry".
