Within the framework of the V Russian-Azerbaijanian interregional forum, the Analytical Center together with the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation organized the roundtable titled “Russia and Azerbaijan: collaboration in energy sphere. Results and perspectives”.
During the roundtable, experts discussed the prospects for joint development of oil and gas fields, the possibility of assets exchange, supply of hydrocarbons to the European market, common problems in the development of the Caspian Sea fields, etc.
Head of the Department for Strategic Studies in Energy of the Analytical Center Alexander Kurdin presented the “Global and Russian energy Outlook up to 2040”. The Outlook was elaborated by the Analytical Center together with the Energy Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2014. The expert presented other more positive forecasts for economic growth and energy consumption in the basic scenario. At the same time, he mentioned that the aggravated conditions for competition in the global oil and gas markets offer the Azerbaijani and Russian energy exporters, new challenges and increase the role of experience and technology exchange coordination, the development of optimal relations with consumers. Mr. Kurdin mentioned that the new Russian Energy Strategy will focus on renouncing the raw-resource development model, so that Fuel and Energy Complex will no longer be a locomotive but a supporting infrastructure for Russian economy.
In addition, from the Russian side, a number of messages were sent from representatives of oilfield services, pipe production, electro-technical and machine building industries from various regions of Russia, such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Tatarstan and Penza. They talked about successfully implemented and planned projects on cooperation with Azerbaijanian companies.
The forum was attended by over 500 guests, including the Minister of Regional Development of the Russian Federation Igor Slyunyaev and the Minister of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev.
