Mr. Gasho insists you can cut your utility bills without having to make any sacrifices. “An old fridge consumes more electricity, and if it is pushed up against a wall and is in direct sunlight that heats it up constantly, it will be running all the time and consuming electricity,” the expert said.

The expert shared some other ‘hacks’ with the journalist, too. For example, it is best to put the hot water tap on the left as most people when they want to get some water automatically go for the tap on the right. When the hot water tap is on the left we will be automatically using more cold water, which costs several times cheaper than hot water. “Another important energy conservation measure is cleaning the windows,” Mr. Gasho noted. “Clean windows let through more light so you will not be using your electric lights as much.”
