BRICS countries are developing in a fast changing world so it is interesting to speculate not only about the possible scenarios of how BRICS will evolve but also for how its place in the new world order is going to change. That is the topic of the opinion piece Senior Advisor to the head of the Analytical Center Leonid Grigoriev wrote for Nezavisimaya Gazeta.

BRICS nations are found on practically every continent and their residents account for almost half of the world’s population. BRICS are expected to become the locomotive of the global growth, Mr. Grigoriev contends. Each BRICS country is a world of its own with a long history that goes back centuries and sometimes even millennia.

In the next few years it should become clear whether these huge countries and their related regions will gradually integrate into the developed world each on its own or whether they will grow their own major companies, create their own way of life and expand on their natural diversity with self-identification and cultural diversity. Of special interest are the processes that are transforming society and technologies, as well as efforts to preserve the planet while maintaining a balance of interest between major social groups, the expert believes. BRICS countries are not likely to offer any viable alternative to the existing political alliances, but their socio-economic, cultural and psychological diversity is of great value for the human civilization.

Leonid Grigoriev co-authored the piece with Analytical Center experts Anna Lobanova and Victoria Pavlushina.
