“An integral map may play an important role as far as the timely repair of utilities is concerned,” Evgeny Gasho, an expert of the Analytical Center, said in his comment to m24.ru.
Different utilities have different characteristics, and this needs to be taken into account
The Moscow region is working on the development of a map of underground utilities and installations. This is reflected in the documents of the Moscow Region’s Main Department for Architecture and Urban Development. The planned cost of the creation and regular update of the map, as part of the 4-year state program “Architectural and Urban Development of the Moscow Region", is 52 million rubles. Moscow is currently developing a similar document.
“Development of a map like this is naturally a great step forward. A lot of different utilities are being laid, and quite often different authorities are in charge. So a map like this will make life way easier for the maintenance personnel. Although, of course, different utilities will still have different characteristics, and this needs to be taken into account,” Mr. Gasho said.
