Mass consumer companies start to use a big data method

‘Several banks, insurance companies and retailers made it into the list of the most innovative companies in the world. In the future these players will make greater use of high technologies and will become leaders of the rating,’ said Yuri Ammosov, the Adviser to the Head of the Analytical Center.

‘Ratings will be updated with companies of financial, retail and consumer goods sectors. Any mass consumer company is applying so-called big data mathods, which use the existing volume of transactions and customer data to predict future trends, events, interests - things which recently were impossible to be found out any other way,’ Mr Ammosov said, commenting on results of the ‘Kommersant’ rating.

To get an idea of the state of innovations in business, the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) since 2004 has been polling over 1500 innovations top managers from different countries and industries, including 42  Russians. Researchers consider that the success of leaders of the rating is based on scientific research and technologies that are becoming increasingly important as factors of innovations’ development, as they contribute to development of new product offerings and provide an opportunity to destabilize the existing market.
