In the middle of the 20th Century the USSR was the leader in various fields of the renewable power generation: first sun, wind and geothermal stations were engineered in there. ‘Thousands of small-scale hydropower plants were giving energy to towns and settlements, all space vehicles were stored with solar power plants,’ said the expert.

According to Mr Gasho, all renewable energy sources have 2 key issues: firstly, they are unsteady and secondly, they have low energy thickness so need to be concentrated and accumulated. ‘That is why use of renewable energy sources is more expensive than use of other common concentrated energy sources – oil, gas, coal, atom. It is all about the lifestyle rather than money, though money is important, too. We are in the habit of comfort, but it can be provided only by concentrated energy. If we want to use renewable energy sources, we should be ready to live thriftily, which is not that easy,’ said the expert.
