Moscow schools will cut down expenses on the heating during nighttime hours and weekends. When there are no students in schools, the temperature will run down to 15 degrees Celsius above zero.

Evgeny Gasho, the expert of the Analytical Center, commented on the situation to the web publishing M24.RU. Saving on heating largely depends on a school itself, according to the expert. “If a school is situated on a sunny side, it needs less heating, so it can save money. Some other school is surrounded by large trees, which negatively affects the temperature in a building. Heating capacity requirements also are affected by the number of students.

Every school needs its own treatment. “Sometimes temperature control systems work successfully, in other cases the wall winterization is enough. One can save by managing the excessive heating, and everything will be ok,” said Mr. Gasho.

Schools can save up to a million rubles on the temperature control system, according to the expert’s estimates. “If a school annually consumes 2,5-million-rubles energy, it can save up to a million rubles by cutthing down the heat during nighttime and weekends,” said the expert.
