According to him, the biggest initiative in 2019 will be implemented in digital infrastructure. First of all, these are going to include broadband internet access.

"A big chunk of the program has to do with connecting socially significant facilities in Russian cities to broadband Internet access. We are talking about hospitals, schools, polyclinics, first aid stations as well as the infrastructure related to the activities of state authorities. Our goal is to ensure broadband internet access for everyone and enable people to get comprehensive state services in the typical life situations in digital format," Mr. Mesropyan noted.

At the same time, 2019 will also see the start of the implementation of comprehensive measures to support research projects dealing with end-to-end digital technologies. Support will be offered to universities, research organizations, as well as companies so that the results of their R&D make it to the market and become available to the public as products, platform solutions and services.

"Projects will be selected for nine end-to-end technologies: big data, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, sensorics, robotics and others, in all the main sectors of the economy and in the social sector, which includes healthcare, education, energy, transport, city utilities, agriculture, industry, construction, financial services, high performance export oriented sectors," Mr. Mesropyan noted.
